Understanding Unshaven FUE

Unshaven FUE means that the recipient area, the donor area, or both are not shaved at the time of surgery, resulting in a more natural look and a result that is partially comparable to what you can expect after full recovery. Depending on the site, it can be recipient-unshaven FUE, donor-unshaven FUE, or complete unshaven FUE.The main benefit is that the longer surrounding hair instantly covers the transplanted area, so results look natural right from the day of the procedure.

The Unshaven FUE Procedure

Your surgeon examines your scalp, checks your hair loss pattern and donor density, and designs a natural-looking hairline with you. Your exact graft count and placement plan are finalised before the procedure begins.

A local anaesthetic is applied to the donor and recipient areas to help you remain comfortable and pain-free throughout.

Instead of shaving the whole donor area, your surgeon isolates and trims only the follicles being extracted. These are then harvested one by one using a micro-punch (0.7–0.9 mm) to keep each follicle intact.

Tiny channels are created in the thinning or balding areas using precision instruments. Your surgeon carefully plans the angle, depth, and direction of each channel to mimic your natural hair growth pattern.
